SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – – Today Senator Pat Bates announced receiving the endorsement of Sheriff Bill Gore in her campaign for the 36th Senate District. The announcement makes Senator Pat Bates the unanimous choice for reelection by the district’s top law enforcement as Bates’ previously announced the endorsement of Orange County Sheriff Sandra Hutchens.

“I am proud and pleased to endorse Senator Pat Bates for reelection,” said Sheriff Gore. “Her steadfast commitment to the men and women who protect and serve our communities everyday is unparalleled. Senator Bates is a champion for public safety and she understands the issues facing law enforcement, which is why she has my full support.”

With Sheriff Gore and other top law enforcement officials within the State of California, Senator Bates has written legislation including SB 722 (2015) that would crack down on sex offenders who illegally tampered with their court mandated GPS tracking devices; SB 1323 that would enhance criminal penalties for criminals who distribute fentanyl and carfentanyl some of the most deadly opioids available today; and SB 1283 that would crack down on some of the most egregious owners of sober living homes that are currently taking advantage of people desperately in need of substance abuse assistance.

“Keeping violent criminals behind bars and ensuring the safety of our district have always been top priorities for me,” said Senator Bates. “Sheriff Gore and I, along with the rest of our law enforcement community, will continue to work tirelessly on issues like reducing opioid abuse by increasing drug abuse education and protecting our seniors and other vulnerable members of our community from identity theft.”
